These values account for a five-minute break after every two completed 4 km laps. Projected distances may include partial final laps. Full laps represent completed 4 km circuits.
Sundown 6 is a simple idea. Six hours, a 4 km loop around Leisure Isle, and an opportunity to see how far you can go. From 4pm until 10pm, what you do with that time is entirely up to you. You might only have two laps in you that day, or maybe just a few kilometres of walking. Someone else might want to see how far they can push themselves. There's no distance you have to reach and no one else you're trying to beat.
This isn't a traditional organised race. There's no entry fee or big event setup where everything is taken care of for you. Think of it more as a blank canvas. An opportunity for friends, families and running communities to come together and make something of the day. You might be there to run for six hours, or you might be there to support someone who wants to try. Walk a lap with them, cycle alongside them, bring them something to eat, help with water or simply be there when they come around again.
The hope is that people make the day their own, but also make it something we do together. Sharing food, running alongside one another, helping someone through a difficult lap or staying around long after you've finished your own run. Everyone's limits will be different, and being there for someone else can be just as much a part of the day as testing your own.
There's no one distance that makes this a success. Just six hours, a little island, and the possibility of going further than you thought.
Sometimes extraordinary experiences can happen on a very ordinary day.
